New York is a safe city, with police constantly a visual presence, but that doesn’t mean you should stop being vigilant. Try and avoid places you haven’t been before late at night and do inform people when you are expected to arrive and where you are going.
New York has many museums, parks, buildings, squares, shops, bars, restaurants, tourist spots, so if you are ever caught between meetings you should take some time out to see them, it is well worth it.
