Hawaiian Airlines recently announced new international routes to Asian destinations including Tokyo and Soeul, and now they’ve announced a re-scheduled delivery of the new Airbus A330. It will now be delivered almost two years earlier than expected. It was originally supposed to be delivered in the second quarter of 2013 but will now be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2011.

The company will initially operate its new routes to Japan and South Korea using its B767 aircraft seating up to 264 passengers before transitioning to its new A330 aircraft.

Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian’s president and CEO, commented, “Having recently announced newservice to Asia and recognizing that further opportunities for new flights may develop in the next year, we have been fortunate to be able to accelerate the delivery of one of our A330s on very short notice.”

Hawaiian’s A330s are the newest, best-equipped aircraft serving Hawaii from the West Coast and offer 18 seats in First Class. On the A330 there are 294 seats in a 2 class configuration with 276 seats in economy. They have a longer operating range than Hawaiians Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, enabling Hawaiian to fly non-stop from Hawaii to North America and eastern Asia.

The wide-body twin-aisle aircraft is spacious, offering seats with more personal space and a state-of-the-art entertainment system. Passengers can enjoy movies, videos, games and music from the high-resolution, LCD touch screen monitors installed in each seatback. Eacg seat also comes with a USB port for personal media players. First Class passengers enjoy a larger LCD screen and iPOD compatibility.

Hawaiian has will acquire 10 new A330s to add to the 2 already in service over the next four years. The airline also has purchase rights for five additional aircraft. Hawaiian’s first two A330s joined the fleet this past June and are being used on the Honolulu-Los Angeles route.
