Business class passengers are obtaining free upgrades with Virgin Atlantic and British Airways. Due to the number of business class and first class seats that are sometimes not being sold, the chance to fly in luxury is becoming more and more available.
Skyscanner conducted a survey, asking passengers who had received an upgrade, who the airline was that they had flown with. British Airways took 42% of these passengers, showing they were the most likely airline to offer upgrades. Virgin Atlantic were the second airline to offer business class upgrades to passengers. 17% of passengers were offered an upgrade by Virgin Atlantic airlines. American Airlines came behind both of these top runners, with 8% of passengers being offered upgrades.
Barry Smith, Business Director said: “With the lure of extra legroom and other luxury perks, it is no wonder that free upgrades are so appealing, especially on popular routes such as flights to New York and on long haul fights to Sydney.”
Business class seats are on the increase in popularity, with many new aircrafts having larger business class cabins put in. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are the top airlines providing outstanding business class cabins, full of the latest on-demand entertainment and style perks associated with business class.
