Business and First Class passengers are no stranger to luxury whilst travelling with airlines; they are accustomed to gourmet meals – some even designed by top Michelin chefs – lie-flat seats which can be adjusted for individual comfort, and a host of fine wines and champagnes. The majority of airlines however, also provide their First and Business Class passengers with amenity bags, loaded with goodies; they are put together to allow travellers to pamper themselves and include skin care products and items from renowned companies.
Some of the providers of skin care products for the top airlines have included Kiehls, Bulgari and La Prairie. Luggage manufactures which have partnered with airlines have included Tumi and Rimowa; these companies have been responsible for creating the bag that these products are placed in.
On Tuesday night, the TravelPlus Airline Amenity Bag Awards took place in Hamburg Germany. A panel of 10 selected judges – which consisted of frequent travellers and aviation industry experts – determined, from the airline’s submissions, who would receive the top honours across a variety of categories which recognised the best amenity bags on offer.
Winners in the First Class category included Emirates Airways for First Class Female amenity bags, Etihad Airways for male amenity bags, and Singapore Airlines for unisex amenity bags.
The airlines that walked away with the top awards for Business Class included Virgin Australia for female amenity kits, Qantas for male amenity kits, and Turkish Airlines for unisex amenity bags.
The awards focused heavily on Business and First Class products but also took into account amenity bags created specifically for children. Qantas took the award for bags designed for children under 6, whilst Qatar Airways won the awards for amenity bags used by children over 6.
