Delta is now offering its passengers the use of a cabin hotel to freshen up after flight. Delta’s Premium passengers flying into Heathrow T4 can now use a free Yotel cabin with shower, bed and Wifi internet access.
The service is available to travellers from Atlanta, New York-JFK, Minneapolis and Detroit travelling in Business Elite on Delta, KLM and Air France. The cabins have showers, free WiFi, a flat screen TV, and rest area with handmade organic beds. Diamond and Platinum Skymiles Medallion members and Flying Blue elite members are also eligible for the service.
Armin Venencie, Delta’s regional sales director for the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, says: “Our premium travellers expect the convenience of an arrivals facility after a long-haul flight. Our partnership with Yotel offers passengers a convenient, private and comfortable space to change before an important meeting, or freshen up before getting on the road.”
The airline is launching an extra daily flight to New York JFK from 20 September.
Yotel was launched at Gatwick Airport in 2007 and is based on a Japanese ‘capsule’ concept. This capsule hotel is neat, compact and futuristic, with ‘pod’ like rooms measuring 7sqm by 10sqm. In a standard room there is a single bed which is sunk into the wall, with a flat screen TV at one end and a pillow at the other. A glass-panelled wet room contains a toilet, sink, rain shower, heated mirror, towel and shampoo/shower gel. The space has been maximised with a foldout table and stool, overhead luggage storage and hangers.
Yotel has since opened properties at Heathrow and Amsterdam Schiphol- the Yotel at Heathrow is located on the mezzanine level of the terminal, accessed by the escalators next to Boots in the departures hall, or the lifts next to WHSmith in Arrivals.
